CE-verification
When was the CE verification established? Ships after 15 June 1998 must have been CE approved. This means that a builder’s certificate and a user’s manual must accompany a ship younger than June 15, 1998. For more information about the CE brand, see the website of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.
Customs declaration
If you are going to sail outside the EC and return to an EC member state, Customs may ask you on the spot for proof that the tax on the vessel has been paid. The original purchase bill/invoice is perfectly suited for this. A VAT declaration, issued by Customs, is also an option.
Yacht broker Strand Horst can help you apply for and obtain such a declaration. By the way, it is only necessary to submit papers for ships built after 1 January 1985. The application form for a VAT declaration can be found on the website of the Tax and Customs Administration (‘Belastingdienst’).
